How Far Would You Go for a Morning Coffee?

Coffee, that magical, tasty drink. There is nothing which can replace the taste of good coffee in the morning. Just the smell of it seems to be waking up all your senses and it makes you feel more alive. How far and where are you prepared to go for a good cup of coffee? What makes coffee tastes good? Is it the way being prepared, type of coffee beans or something completely different? Preparing coffee can be very exciting too. You don’t believe me, than better ask some Latvian guys what they think on this subject.

If you didn’t know, there are people competing in making coffee up in the sky. The higher in the sky you are, it is better. Now, making coffee in the airplane, here doesn’t count. You must be “on the open” in the air and prepare this delicious black drink. This is exclusively for those balloon flying lovers. The higher you are in the air it is better. Recently three guys, all three from Latvia, set a new world record by preparing a cup of coffee in a balloon 20,000ft up in the sky.

Nidas Kiuberis, Grazvydas Vilcinskas and Vytautas Samarinas had to use protective clothing and oxygen masks to reach tohse heights. This is not an easy task. Temperature around there is about -20C. They were using a special Aeropress coffee maker to push hot water through the filter in order to make a nice cup of coffee. Nidas Kiuberis took off his oxygen mask quickly so he could taste this unusually prepared coffee. The final judgement was that this coffee is as tasty as the one down on the ground. They didn’t say it is better, just as good as one on the ground. Some would say that this was not worth flying 20,000ft when, even a child can tell you that heights will not change the taste of any food or any drink, but they are the only people who can say they made a cup of coffee on 20,000ft on the open air.

Skydiving for a Life

People say that adrenalin is the most addictive drug on the world. If you feel adrenalin once, you will never stop thinking on it. One of the best way to feel pure adrenalin is definitely skydiving. During the free fall from more than 20000ft, which can take more than a couple of minutes, you are able to feel the biggest excitement in your life. Anyway, if you are not sure that you are willing to jump, look at this amazing photos. Maybe it will make you change your mind ;)

Inside The Cockpit

No one said that being a pilot is easy, but seeing this photos and how the pilot cabin looks like it seams to me that this is pretty much impossible to do. All my respect goes to the men who are choosing this profession. It is not an easy job but someone has to do it. Flying has always been a dream to most of the people, and I am sure that there is not a living person who haven’t imagined to be up in the sky. The dream and the myth of the Daedalus and Icarus is known to you all and maybe this is not how the first idea of flying was imagined, but surely it is a good way to get somewhere. The view is impressive from up there and now you can be pilot just for a sec by looking at this photos.
