10 Weirdest Deaths in History

Death is a normal part of life. Most people are scared of dying because just the thought that your existence will end is one scary thought. Through history people have died and some died in unconventional way. You cannot imagine the craziest way people have ended their lives. This is a list of 10 weirdest recorded deaths through history.

1. Death by Embracing the Reflection of the Moon

Chinese poet Li Po (701-706) was one of the two greatest poets in China’s literary history. He was known for liking to see the bottom of the cup and his greatest poems were written while drunk. One night, Li Po fell from his boat and drowned in the Yangtze River while trying to embrace the reflection of the moon in the water.

2. Death because of Beard

Austrian Hans Steininger was famous for having the world’s longest beard (it was 4.5 feet or nearly 1.4 m long) and for dying because of it. One day in 1567, there was a fire in town and in was in haste to get there and forgot to roll up his beard. He accidentally stepped on his beard, lost balance, stumbled, broke his neck and died!

3. Death by Dessert

King Adolf Frederick of Sweden loved to eat and died from it too! The “King Who Ate Himself to Death” as the children in Sweden learn in school about him, died in 1771 at the age of 61 from a digestive problem after eating an epic meal no less than: lobster, caviar, saurkraut, cabbage soup, smoked herring, champagne and 14 servings of his favorite dessert: semla, a bun filled with marzipan and milk.

4. Death from Stubbing One’s Toe

There is something to learn from this story. Famous Tennessee whiskey distiller Jack Daniel one day came early to work. On that morning in 1911, he wanted to open his safe but couldn’t remember the combination. In anger, Jack kicked the safe and injured his toe, which later developed an infection which killed him! Have you learned something from this? The most important thing you learn here is not to go early to work!

5. Death by 1) Poison, 2) Gunshot Wound (4x), 3) Beating by Clubs, 4) Drowning.

According to legends, Russian mystic Grigori Rasputin (1869-1916) was first poisoned with enough cyanide to kill ten men, but he wasn’t affected. So his killers shot him in the back with a revolver. Rasputin fell but later revived. So, he was shot again three more times, but Rasputin still lived. He was then clubbed, and for good measure thrown into the icy Neva River.

6. Death by Scarf

“Mother of modern dance” Isadora Duncan was killed in 1927 by her trademark scarf she loved to wear. As the New York Times noted in its obituary of the dancer on 15 September 1927, “The automobile was going at full speed when the scarf of strong silk began winding around the wheel and with terrific force dragged Miss Duncan, around whom it was securely wrapped, bodily over the side of the car, precipitating her with violence against the cobblestone street. She was dragged for several yards before the chauffeur halted, attracted by her cries in the street. Medical aid was summoned, but it was stated that she had been strangled and killed instantly.”

7. Death by Bottle Cap

American playwright Tennessee Williams died in 1983 after he choked on a bottle cap in his hotel room. Strange way for someone to die, but many strange deaths have been recorded while people were drunk.

8. Death by Belly Slam

British pro wrestler Mal “King Kong” Kirk died underneath the big belly of Shirley “Big Daddy” Crabtree. In August 1987, during the final moments of the match, Crabtree delivered his signature “Belly-Splash” move (basically jumping up and down, slamming his belly onto a guy) on Kirk, who then had a heart attack and died.

9. Death by Cactus

This is probably the one and only recorded revenge kill by a plant in history. In 1982, 27-year-old David Grundman and a roommate decided to do a little “cactus plugging,” by shooting the desert plant with a shotgun. The first one, a small cactus, went off without a hitch and Grundman was encouraged to try a larger prey: a 26-foot-tall Saguaro cactus, probably a 100-year-old plant. Unfortunately, Grundman blasted off a large chuck of the cactus that fell on him and crushed him to death!

10. Death by Orange Peel

Bobby Leach wasn’t afraid of facing death, he was daring it all the time : in 1911, he was the second person in the world to go over Niagara Falls in a barrel. The daredevil went on to perform many other death-defying stunts, so his death is pretty ironic. One day while walking down a street in New Zealand, Leach slipped on a piece of orange peel. He broke his leg so badly it had to be amputated. Leach died due to complications that developed afterwards.

Most of us are trying to avoid creatures as spiders, bugs and insects. But for some meeting with these creatures is every day routine. “Forensic entomologist, who studies insects that invade a person’s dead body and decipher insect life cycles to determine the time and manner of death, is the creepiest career on our list,” says Tony Lee, publisher, CareerCast.com. “These little bugs can even offer clues as to when and if a body part was moved after death and the types of injuries that may have occurred.”
If you are not to scared or have some phobia than these could be your next job. Some will call it creepy and some will call it a normal day at work. Here are some of the world creepiest careers:
Forensic Entomologist

Average Salary – $47,740
Job Description – Forensic entomologists use their knowledge of insects and the life cycle to apply it to criminal matters.

Arachnologist

Average Salary – $61,660
Job Description – Arachnologists are biologists who study spiders and other arachnids of all shapes, sizes and varieties.

Pest Control Specialist

Average Salary – $30,340
Job Description – Pest control specialists remove creatures from households, apartment buildings, places of business and other structures to protect people and maintain structural integrity.

Reptologist

Average Salary – $61,660
Job Description – Reptologists are wildlife biologists who specialize in the study of reptiles. Some may work in zoos, while others work in museums of natural history or other venues.

Road Kill Removal Specialist

Average Salary – $30,000
Job Description – Road kill removal specialists help extricate and remove dead animal carcasses from highways, roadways and other passageways to dispose of the remains and prevent potential accidents.

Field Entomologist

Average Salary – $47,740
Job Description – An entomologist studies insects and their life cycles. By classifying insects, observing their behavior and determining their population dynamics, entomologists play an important role in understanding the insect world.

Male Bra – Why? You Don’t Wanna Know

New revolutionaly invention has appear on Japanese market, called Male Bra. It’s well known that Japanese people keep shocking the rest of the world with weird and bizarre inventions for a long time. This time they got to far. I mean, Really? Who will wear something like this? Even better question. Why would anyone ware something like this? This question will probably stay unanswered until some of us ask someone who actually is wearing male bra. Until then, we can only be shocked with this “invention”.

This Is no Way Someone To Die But It Happened

This is no way for one to die, but since we are talking here about the 9th century and people who didn’t hesitate of cutting someones head, than there are no many surprises. People were dying of common flue those days, so a minor infection is not something what was harmless in the year 892. Sigurd the Mighty of Orkney killed his enemy Mael Brigte with cutting his head. He took his head to show off back home, but as you know at that time dentists were not to popular and this guy (decapitated one) had very rotten teeth. Since the head was just hanging on the horse saddle, it cut Sigurd’s leg and caused an infection. He died after that.

If you thought that an infection from a teeth cut is a bummer, than think twice. Edward II in 1327 was imprisoned by his wife Isabella and her lover Roger Mortimer. As if this was not enough, the rumor is that he was killed by red-hot iron inserted trough his anus! Ouch! That must have been one painful death, specially knowing that he couldn’t have died instantly. King is dead, long live the king!

Not all the people have a privilege to chose how to die, but there are some who have a really unusual requests. For instance, George Plantagenet, almost 1st of everything, 1st Duke of Clarence, 1st Earl of Salisbury, 1st Earl of Warwick, who was best known from the War of Roses. Following his conviction, he was “privately executed” at the Tower on 1478. Since he was a noble man, the death could not be an usual one. The tradition may have originated in a joke, based on his reputation as a heavy drinker. So, he got drowned in a vat of a Malmsey wine. Strange, isn’t it? Would you chose a death like this?

Arthur Aston was not a lucky man, he didn’t have a leg, but that just leaded to rumors that he has gold in that wooden led, so what happened is that he got beaten to death with the very same leg. Being a solider and expecting death like this was not likely, he was more likely prepared to die in the combat, but there are some bizarre faiths you can’t escape.

Adolf Frederic the king of Sweden died the most bizarre way. One would think that money and power can buy everything, but this king died from digestive problems in 1771 after having consumed a meal of lobster, caviar, sauerkraut, smoked herring and champagne, topped off with 14 servings of his favorite dessert: hetvägg served in a bowl of hot milk. In Sweden children learn about this king as the one who eaten himself to death!

You know that story, how it is much easier to get stroke by a lighting than win lotto? Well it seems like it would be better for this football team to had been playing some lottery or other luck games. In 1998 an entire visiting association football team playing against Basanga was killed by lightning during a match in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Everyone on Basanga, the home team, survived.

The World Sauna Championships were an annual endurance contest held in Heinola, Finland, from 1999 to 2010. They originated from unofficial sauna-sitting competitions that resulted in a ban from a swimming hall in Heinola. After the death of Vladimir Ladyzhensky, a competitor from Russia, in 2010 this competition got forbidden!

Diana Nyad Tried to Swim From Cuba to Florida

Endurance swimmer and record-holder Diana Nyad (61) arrived in Florida Tuesday morning, but not in the manner she hoped. She had attempted to become the first person to swim between Cuba and Florida without a shark cage, but ocean swells, shoulder pain and asthma forced her to give up the swim. Nyad was vomiting when she was brought aboard a boat at 12:45 a.m. Tuesday — 29 hours after she jumped into the water Sunday.

Riding a Cow

15-year-old Regina Mayer from Germany has always dreamed of having a horse and ride. But her parents did not share her enthusiasm – buying the horse wasn’t an option. Then the girl decided to fulfill her dream anyhow and put a saddle on a cow named Luna. Entreaties, caresses, dozens of hours of training – and now a proud rider has already toured the German village on her own riding cow! Luna understands the command “Forward,” “stand up” and “gallop”, and knows how to jump over a barrier. Take a look at this young enthusiast.

Inhabitants Near Baikonur
