South Africa’s population is about 50 million. In Slams live at least 450,000 white South Africans, 10 percent of the total white population. They live below the poverty line and 100,000 are struggling just to survive, according to civil organizations and largely white trade union Solidarity. Are we talking here about race discrimination? It looks like this people just don’t have the right color of their skin.

They look like just about everyone else in South Africa.Except white.

it’s not about skin colour. A lot of people struggle with poverty in South Africa…regardless of skin colour.

Well, I’m a white Sout-African, and this is a very rare case.

Rough estimate, I think about 80%+ of blacks are living like this in SA and not even 0.1% of whites share the same fate.

Still got money for cigarettes I see …all puffing away there and their children’s health …so not as poor as they can be

Although it is true that there are a lot of white people living in poverty, the reality is that this is not disproportionate to the rest of the population. In fact, statistically whites are still the richest, on average, in South Africa.

The angle in this site that white people are worse off is devoid of fact. The author is either misinformed or, more likely, has a racist agenda.

That doesn’t really look like poverty to me. Shabby neighbourhood perhaps but they all have decent clothes and can obviously afford cigarettes, which are a luxury not a necessity. Interesting pictures though, that offer a new perspective.
